The North Nowra Riverfront Caravan Park, home of the Shoalhaven Ski Park, is the perfect getaway, located off the Princes Highway in North Nowra, 4 km west from Nowra’s Shoalhaven Bridge. We are your base camp in the Shoalhaven region with all its attractions and tourism hot spots on offer.

 



Caravans

Twenty acres with extensive river frontage, surrounding bush and open paddocks.

Powered and non-powered sites for Caravans and RVs are available. Short-term powered sites for placement of vans on a quarterly basis may be available, subject to limited use as holiday vans.

It is the perfect recreational getaway just 2 hours drive from Sydney.

 Camping

Relax and camp by the river or choose the large grassed paddock with powered and non powered sites. Pitch a tent on Rockies Riverside Retreat, the camp area favoured by rock climbing enthusiasts with easy access to The Grotto climb areas. For the intermediate and professional climbers bring your kayak and cross the river to climb the famous Thompsons Point cliffs.

There’s nothing like camping to bring you closer to nature.



Boating

Bring your own boat. We have boat & trailer parking subject to our terms and conditions. There is a private boat ramp access (subject to river conditions). Plus, river swimming and beach picnic areas on the riverbanks.

The best part about staying here is that your time is yours. Whether you want to spend your days relaxing by the waterfront with a fishing pole in hand or bring your own boat and watersports equipment and create your own exhilarating activities.

Organise your own excursions to the many tourist hotspots in the Shoalhaven.  You can do as much or as little as you want.

You don’t even have to be a camper to enjoy our park. Bring your caravan or RV. Stop by for a few days or even longer.

Our Park is a world away from the every day hustle and bustle of life yet close enough to the Nowra urban area and all the popular Shoalhaven tourist attractions. Whether you are a tourist, family adventurers, grey nomad retiree, a caravaner, or simply seeking a weekend budget holiday, the natural waterfront areas of the Shoalhaven River are your natural playground.

Boating, Water Skiing and Wakeboarding

Bring your own boat and gear for water ski and wakeboarding fun on the Shoalhaven River. Perfect location loved by amateur and professionals skiers alike. Family fun on the water with tubing as well. There are kilometres of unspoilt bushland views peppered with pockets of urban bush acreages and farms.

Shoalhaven Walking Tracks, Bushwalks and River Views

Beautifull scenic walks along the right by the park in The Grotto and nearby at Bens Walk and Bomaderry Creek. Further afield there are many more tracks and trails including Coomies Walk and Gosangs Tunnel, White Sands and Scribbly Walk to the Tree Lines Tack at the riverside Bundanon Art Museum.

Go Wild at The Shoalhaven Zoo and Tree Tops Adventure

Keep the kids busy outdoors all day. At the Shoalhaven Zoo and Treetop Adventures right next door. Have photos taken with  Koalas and Crocodiles. Take in an Experience with White Lions and Meer Cats. Or, test yourselves on the ropes at the tree and cliff edge at TreeTops Adventure Park.

Paddle a Kayak or Canoe Gently Down the River

Bring your own kayak or canoe and explore the Shoalhaven River. Paddle slowly down the tranquil waterways with plenty of bird and marine life in and around the river foreshores, estuaries and coastal beaches. Take in cliffs, bushland, waterfalls and beaches, some areas only accessible by water.

Hook Flathead or Land in Bass Freshwater or Estuary Fishing

The Shoalhaven River is 327 km long, flowing along the eastern side of the Great Dividing Range. Freshwater from inland into two estuaries and out to sea through Shoalhaven Heads and the Crookhaven River Heads. Catches include dusky flathead, whiting, mulloway, tailor, luderick, Australian bass, estuary perch and silver bream.

Renowned Rock Climbing Attracts Local and International Climbers

Several climb locations are next to the Park and nearby with routes for sport climbers of all ages and abilities. So pitch a tent on our riverside Rockies Retreat paddock, book a climbing lesson with a local Rock Climbing business and start exploring climbs.

Discover all the Wineries Shoalhaven has to offer

The Cambewarra Estate Winery is just up the road. You can relax, unwind and enjoy the view with Cellar Door Tasting, High Tea or settle in for some fine food fare.  Take in all the local Shoalhaven Wineries including the Silos Estate, Coolangatta Estate, Two Figs Winery, Mountain Ridge Wines and Lyrebird Ridge Organic Winery.

Art Galleries, Museums and Gardens

The Shoalhaven has a thriving arts and cultural scene, including the renowned Australian artist Arthur Boyd’s riverside Gallery and museum, Bundanon. Take in the Fleet Air Arm Museum and many other galleries, museums and beautiful public Gardens

National Parks and Indigenous Culture

There are 10 national Parks within the Shoalhave teeming with bush walks and hiking trails. Seek out rainforsts and waterfalls, white sands and beautiful deserted beaches with crystal clear waters. Golf by the River or at several other Shoalhaven Courses

Nowra Golf & Recreation Club is one of the finest 18 holes championship golf courses in NSW set beautifully on the banks of the Shoalhaven River and is just a 5 minute drive from our Park. Play there or at the many other golf courses in the Shoalhaven district, including links courses, a driving range and Putt Putt for the kids.

Whale Watching and Dolphin Cruises on the Coast

Nip down to Jervis Bay, and you will find the best whale and dolphin cruises on the coast. Watch the annual migrations heading north from May to August and through to November when they head back south towards the antarctic. Dolphins are seen all year round.

Pubs, Clubs, Craft Breweries and Distilleries. What's your Favourite Bevvy?

You will not go thirsty or hungry with five Breweries, a couple of distilleries, eight wineries, plus many Pubs, Clubs and restaurants in the Shoalhaven. Start at South Yeast Brewing, the North Nowra Tavern or Ponte Bar and Dining, just a few minutes’ drive from the Park.

The town of Nowra is the gateway to the Shoalhaven region on the beautiful South Coast, NSW and sits on the banks of the beautiful, unspoilt and largely quiet Shoalhaven River.

There is so much to see and do in the Shoalhaven. Not only fishing and relaxing on the river’s water or the adrenalin-rushing watersports, the Shoalhaven Zoo and TreeTop Adventures next door or many local Wineries, Breweries and a Gin Distillery nearby. There are famous Art Museums, Galleries and the Australian Navy’s Fleet Air Arm Museum.

There is the stunning Jervis Bay with seasonal Whale Watching & Dolphin Cruises and Diving all year round. Learn about Indigenous Bush Food and take in Cultural Immersion Tours. Explore the many beautiful beaches, bushwalking tracks, hiking trails, National Parks and more.  Check out the list ➢

Getting Here from Sydney & Canberra

 

We are just a 2 ½ hours drive from Sydney on the freeway or take the coastal scenic route and experience Wollongong’s Grand Pacific Drive flyover the ocean. Stop in the township of Berry for a bit of shopping and grab a doughnut and coffee from the famous Berry Donut Van.

You could travel via the Hume Highway and drive through the many picturesque towns and villages of the Southern Highlands and Kangaroo Valley.

There are three ways to travel from Canberra to Nowra. Through the township Nerriga via Morton National Park and Braidwood or through Goulburn over the Souhern Higlands, passing by the Fitzroy Falls and through the iconic Kangaroo Valley. Or, over the Kings Highway via Braidwood, Batemans Bay and then north to Nowra. See Google Map ➢

 

Rock Climbing

World-Renowned Climbing in Beautiful Urban Bush Settings

Rock Climbing enthusiasts come from all over the World to one of the must-do sports climbing locations in Australia.

You can make the North Nowra Riverfront Caravan Park your base camp. Park your caravan, camper or pitch your tent on our Rockies Retreat riverside paddock with easy access to The Grotto Bushwalking track with its many varied climbs right next to the Park. 

The Shoalhaven River valley has many cliffs and crags carved out over millennia by the Shoalhaven River that mostly suit intermediate and advanced climbers. Bring your own kayaks or canoes and paddle from the Park across The Shoalhaven River to Thompson’s Point. There you will find an excellent large and varied routes. Not far away is by boat or car there are the Hospital Rocks nearer to town or Bomaderry Creek Regional Park for climbing and hiking.

Keep an eye out Aboriginal Cultural Heritage sites, including cave art. Local climbers say to be informed and respect all closed areas. Clean up chalk, and with more than enough routes available, rethink adding new ones to crags with access issues and leave behind nothing more than light footprints.
